Brief Outline
The institute’s research focuses traditionally on surface physics and direct imaging microscopy, and since 1998 has expanded to include photonics and optical technologies.
The institute is currently divided into five departments:
- Physics of surfaces and interfaces
- Atomic and molecular physics on surfaces
- Applied photonics
- High-temperature sensor technology
- Energy conversion
The institute currently has around 50 employees, including master's students and doctoral candidates.
